چکیده

We study satisfiability and infinite-state model checking in ICPDL, which extends Propositional Dynamic Logic (PDL) with intersection and converse operators on programs. The two main results of this paper are that (i) satisfiability is in 2EXP, thus 2EXP-complete by an existing lower bound, and (ii) infinite-state model checking of basic process algebras and pushdown systems is also 2EXP-complete. Both upper bounds are obtained by polynomial time computable reductions to ω-regular tree satisfiability in ICPDL, a reasoning problem that we introduce specifically for this purpose. This problem is then reduced to the emptiness problem for alternating two-way automata on infinite trees. Our approach to (i) also provides a shorter and more elegant proof of Danecki’s difficult result that satisfiability in IPDL is in 2EXP. We prove the lower bound(s) for infinite-state model checking using an encoding of alternating Turing machines. §

PDL with Intersection and Converse is 2EXP-complete

We study the complexity of satisfiability in the expressive extension ICPDL of PDL (Propositional Dynamic Logic), which admits intersection and converse as program operations. Our main result is containment in 2EXP, which improves the previously known non-elementary upper bound and implies 2EXPcompleteness due to an existing lower bound for PDL with intersection. The proof proceeds by showing t...

Model checking propositional dynamic logic with all extras

This paper presents a model checking algorithm for Propositional Dynamic Logic (PDL) with looping, repeat, test, intersection, converse, program complementation as well as context-free programs. The algorithm shows that the model checking problem for PDL remains PTIME-complete in the presence of all these operators, in contrast to the high increase in complexity that they cause for the satisfia...

Infinite State Model-Checking of Propositional Dynamic Logics

Model-checking problems for PDL (propositional dynamic logic) and its extension PDL∩ (which includes the intersection operator on programs) over various classes of infinite state systems (BPP, BPA, pushdown systems, prefix-recognizable systems) are studied. Precise upper and lower bounds are shown for the data/expression/combined complexity of these model-checking problems.

Nested Words for Order-2 Pushdown Systems

We study linear time model checking of collapsible higher-order pushdown systems (CPDS) of order 2 (manipulating stack of stacks) against MSO and PDL (propositional dynamic logic with converse and loop) enhanced with push/pop matching relations. To capture these linear time behaviours with matchings, we propose order-2 nested words. These graphs consist of a word structure augmented with two bi...

Propositional Dynamic Logic with Converse and Repeat for Message-Passing Systems

The model checking problem for propositional dynamic logic (PDL) over message sequence charts (MSCs) and communicating finite state machines (CFMs) asks, given a channel bound B, a PDL formula φ and a CFM C, whether every existentially B-bounded MSC M accepted by C satisfies φ. Recently, it was shown that this problem is PSPACEcomplete. In the present work, we consider CRPDL over MSCs which is ...
